Imagine snowy mountains, crystal clear lake water and delicious wine served alongside a mouthwatering dinner – doesn’t that sound enticing? I was lucky to experience these things together with a very good friend of mine. And let me tell you: we had a blast! So, let me take you with me on my perfect getaway to the picturesque Tegernsee and to the Brauneck mountain that offer far more than one might expect.
Wellness with lake and mountain views at Tegernsee
After receiving an invitation for a two night stay including half board at the Hotel Bussi Baby, I decided to contact my dear friend Lisa and take her with me on this trip. I met her during my first Ibiza season and we have been friends ever since. Of course, Lisa was excited to join me so we made our way to the first destination: Hotel Bussi Baby in Bad Wiessee which is located at the beautiful lake Tegernsee in southern Germany.
After a one-hour drive from Munich we arrived at the conveniently situated Hotel Bussi Baby which is owned by Hotel Bachmair Weissach We. This beautiful Bavarian style hotel has refurbished and inviting rooms with Swiss pine walls that come with a balcony offering stunning lake and mountain views. A perfect environment to relax and break free from your everyday life. We started our two days with a wholesome breakfast which was included in the room rate. Happy and saturated we spent our day at the spa area of Hotel Bachmair Weissach that offers different saunas, an in- and outdoor pool, yoga courses and a gym. Rarely I have seen a better wellness area in a hotel than there!!! Highly recommended with its beautiful modern design!!
You can also engage in many different activities around the lake Tegernsee such as horse riding, hiking, mountain biking, golfing, skiing or snowboarding. During summer you can visit the “Point” which is kind of a beach by the lake. It´s a great place to cool off on hot summer days while enjoying the mind-blowing scenery. After our relaxing day at the sauna we made our way to Hotel Bussi Baby’s restaurant Thai Stüberl. The food is modern, delicious and faultless – I had an amazing Pad Thai that took me back to Thailand.
If you are looking for a great hotel at lake Tegernsee with very welcoming and helpful staff, great food, amazing nature experience and lots of activities to choose from, then Hotel Bussi Baby is the perfect choice for you and your friends or family!
Alpine adventures, extracurricular activities and amazing food nearby the mountain Brauneck
On our third day we left Hotel Bussi Baby and drove to the restaurant Bräustüberl, which is located on the opposite side of the lake. We enjoyed a great lunch there and then continued on to the Arabella Brauneck Hotel in Lenggries near Bad Tölz. Our room there was spacious and rustic (typical Bavarian style) with a very comfortable bed, a bathtub and staggering mountain views. After unpacking we were ready to explore what this hotel has to offer. Besides a restaurant and a cocktail bar we found a gym, bowling alley, ping-pong table and two saunas. Of course, we couldn’t just pass the sauna without giving it a try and guess what…it was soooo relaxing! We took advantage of our free time to brainstorm and talk about new business projects. We also reminisced the great times we had on Ibiza and started to plan our upcoming trip to my magical island. Talking about the events we will attend there and where we should stay just increased our excitement for the next Ibiza season – I can’t wait for it to begin! Fully relaxed we went for dinner to the hotel’s restaurant Leonhardi Stuben. I had mouthwatering “Kässpatzen” (Swabian noodles) with meat and Nadine enjoyed “Spinatnocken” (Austrian style gnocchi with spinach). Let me tell you guys, the food was just amazing!
For our second day the hotel sponsored us a return trip cable car ride up the nearby located mountain Brauneck. This region has truly a lot to offer. You can go skiing, snowboarding, hiking, cross-country skiing and sledging or simply enjoy the beautiful alpine panorama while getting an hearty meal at one of the multiple huts on this mountain. We decided to pay the Tölzer Hütte a visit where we indulged ourselves with mulled wine and “Kaiserschmarrn” (shredded sweet pancakes with raisins) while enjoying the wonderful panoramic views. On our way back to the cable car we couldn’t help ourselves – we had to mess about in the snow and take some great pictures.
Back at the hotel we got ready for our 3-course dinner which was included in the room rate. But we weren’t prepared for what was awaiting us… Every single dish of this 3-course menu was just heavenly, especially the Burgundy wine – this was definitely a high-class dining experience with exceptionally good food! Make sure to visit this restaurant if you’re in the area, as it is also open to the public.
The region around Lenggries and Bad Tölz offers many winter activities, whether you’re more a laid-back person or a daredevil, you’ll definitely find something suitable for you! During summer time there are many hiking tracks, golf courses, toboggan runs, swimming spots and cycling tracks you can explore while enjoying the wonderful nature.
Looking back, Lisa and I had the most relaxing and productive 4 days in a long time. This getaway was sorely needed after all the hard work on my master thesis. We highly enjoyed the spa activities that nourished our souls and bodies as well as the great food and stunning scenery these regions have to offer.
